B.Sc. NURSING

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well- being that enable a person to lead a psychologically, socially, economically and spiritually productive life.At present there is huge demand of nursing education as globally there is severe shortage of nurses. It is estimated that in India itself there is need of 6 million nurses by the year 2030.Undergraduate Nursing Program is board based education within an academic framework specifically directed to the development of critical thinking skills, competencies and standards required for practice of professional nursing and midwifery an envisaged in National Health Policy. It prepares students of undergraduate nursing educational programme to become exemplary citizen by adhering to code of ethics and professional conduct at all times in fulfilling personal, social and professional obligations so as to respond to national aspiration.

Eligibility    : HS/(10+2) from Science stream with 50% marks in aggregate with Physics,Chemistry, Biology as mandatory subjects. 5 % relaxation for ST/SC/OBC (Non Creamy layer)

Duration    : 4 years (8 Eight Semesters)

Intake Capacity : 60 students (in each department)

Mode of selection: Based on the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) conducted by Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati

Total annual course fee    : 1,35,000/- (yearly)
Fee at the time of admission : 50,000/- (Rest in instalment wise)

GENERAL NURSING AND MIDWIFERY (GNM)

General Nursing and Midwifery is geared to the health needs of the individuals, family and Community of the country at large. The aims of the diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery programme is to prepare nurses with sound technical knowledge and skill to enable them to function as efficient members of the health team in the prevention of disease, promotion of health and rehabilitation of the sick. They are to keep pace with latest professional and technological development and use these for providing nursing care service to the patient.

Eligibility    : HS/(10+2) from Any Stream with 40% marks in aggregate 5 % relaxation for ST/SC/OBC (Non Creamy layer)
Duration    : 3 years
Intake Capacity    : 60 students (in each department)
Mode of selection : Based on written Test conducted by the university.
