Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya, Nasatra, Barpeta, Assam, PIN: 781307 has promoted meaningful Research and Development activities in the domains of Humanities, Cultural Studies, Commerce & Management and Science with a vision and mission to pursue and promote Research in Humanities, Cultural Studies, Commerce & Management and Science.
For any education, specifically in the changed landscape of higher education, the basic model of a ‘teaching – only’ institution is inadequate to ensure quality education. In the changed landscape of knowledge economy, in all disciplines of education, new concepts, methods of teaching and the introduction of technologies have become inevitable. In this scenario, it is not possible for the teachers to deliver good quality teachings and imparting instructions without being tuned to the current developments in the subjects, for which they are bound to update their knowledge constantly. A well-recognized way for the teachers to deal with this paradigm is to be active researchers in the areas in which they are interested. As researchers, they need to understand the past and recent developments in their subject areas and pay sincere attention towards the changed parameter of knowledge market.
The Research and Development Cell of KAV:
The Research and Development Cell of KAV has been established at Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya, Nasatra, Barpeta, Assam, PIN: 781307 to inculcate research and innovative skills among the faculties, students and the stakeholders. Research and Development Cell provides a platform for creativity and innovation to flourish young minds in the institutes of the university. Innovative breakthroughs basically happens only because of meticulous efforts of the Research and Development Cell. Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya, Nasatra, Barpeta, Assam, PIN: 781307 provides SEED amount to facilitate basic common research infrastructure for individuals to execute collaborative research work.
Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya, Nasatra, Barpeta, Assam, PIN: 781307 Research and Development Cell is a nominated committee consisting of Professors from various programmes of the institutions functional under the jurisdiction of the University. Research and Development Cell oversees the smooth and efficient coordination of research and development activities in the institutions functional under the administrative umbrella of the Foundation Trust and the University and thus, help in fostering overall growth of the academic and research bases of the institutions. The organizational structure consists of Advisor, Principal, Dean and Coordinators for facilitating the routine functioning of the cell.
COMPOSITION OF THE RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CELL OF KRISHNAGURU ADHYATMIK VISVAVIDYALAYA, NASATRA, BARPETA, ASSAM:
The Research & Development Cell of Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya, Nasatra, Barpeta, Assam is constituted with the following office bearers:
The Advisory Committee:
The Advisory Committee is constituted with the University’s Research Advisor, Principals, Dean and three or five renowned external Academic Personalities with sufficient Research and Administrative background.
The University’s Research Advisor:
The university’s research advisor is a Professor with very elongated research supervision experience.
Coordinators:
Five to Seven teaching faculties are the members from the institutions of the university, with research supervising experience and one or two non-teaching officers representing with experiences in research related administrative duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MEMBERS:
The Advisory Committee:
The role of the advisory committee to the Research and Development Cell, i.e. RDC is to give advises on research matters whenever necessary.
Coordinators:
The coordinators are expected to report back on the University’s research committee business to their constituents (in faculties, research students, other committees), as well as participating in committee discussions and decision making.
The University’s Research Advisor:
The University’s Research advisor should have the following knowledge and expertise:
• Thorough knowledge of grants/funds availability for research projects/FDPS (Faculty Development Programmes)/Seminars/Workshops for students and faculty.
• Acting as a liaison with other Institutions’ administrative support units, sponsors, and auditors.
• Support research student and faculty in the development of proposals and related financial narratives and budgets.
• Thoroughly scrutinizes unallowable direct research activities and use of facilities and judge all administrative (F&A) costs.
• Assuring that costs incurred under sponsored research projects conducted within the department comply with sponsor and University policies.
Meeting:
The Research & Development Cell of Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya, Nasatra, Barpeta, Assam (R & D C of KAV) has to meet at least four times per year.
Objectives:
The prime objectives of the Research & Development Cell of Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya, Nasatra, Barpeta, Assam (R&DC of KAV) are as the given below:
- To foster Systematic and Scientific Research temper.
- To generate innovative ideas on academic and societal problems.
- To Encourage, Coordinate and Implement Research and Development Programmes (Workshops/ Seminars/ Trainings Programmes/ FDP etc.).
- To create awareness on the recent development in the field of research and innovation as well as evolving technologies and industrial standards for products and impart market oriented knowledge.
- Provide scope for faculty and students to work on the latest development in the field of higher education as well as evolving technologies with industry standards through consultancy projects.
- To identify and inform researchers about the appropriate research opportunities announced by different academic, research, industry or government Units, Academic Bodies & Organizations.
- To encourage and facilitate the publication and presentation of the research works/projects in reputed academic journals and in reputed Seminars & Conferences.
- To prepare and implement a research quality assurance mechanism for ensuring that all research activities of the University conform to standard quality specifications of the UGC and other higher Bodies .
- To develop, prescribe and administer rules and regulations to ensure the compliance of all researchers to the research quality assurance framework and the research code.
- To encourage Core Competence and Consultancy work
- To create awareness about filing Patents & IPR (Intellectual Property Rights).
- To help to understand the ethical parameters of research and follow in practice.
THE MAIN ACTIVITIES OF THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CELL OF KRISHNAGURU ADHYATMIK VISVAVIDYALAYA, NASATRA, BARPETA, ASSAM (R & D C OF KAV):
The main activities of the Research and Development Cell of Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya, Nasatra, Barpeta, Assam (R&DC OF KAV) are as the specified below:
- To assist faculties, research scholars and students in filing research proposals for grants from various funding agencies like the Department of Higher Education, Department of Science and Technology, All India Council for Technical Education, (MHRD, DST, AICTE) and all financing authorities and agencies etc.
- To allocate funds for in-house Research and Development (R & D) projects of the faculties, research scholars and students.
- To assist the faculties, research scholars and students in filing of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) like patents and copy rights.
- To create awareness and motivate researchers to work in emerging domains of Social Sciences, Humanities, Commerce & Management and Science & Technology.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CELL OF KRISHNAGURU ADHYATMIK VISVAVIDYALAYA, NASATRA, BARPETA, ASSAM (R & D C OF KAV):
The responsibilities of the Research and Development Cell of KAV (R & D Cell, KAV) are as the following:
- To prepare annual research activity plan for all the departments of the University.
- To establish liaison with near and far institutions, agencies and industry and identify the academic and technological challenges being faced by them.
- Strengthen industry institute interaction through MoUs for long term relationships with national and international research organizations for widening the scope of research options and funding opportunities for faculty and students.
- Take up appropriate problems of the areas of research in Social Sciences, Humanities, Commerce & Management and Science and Technologies for finding out solutions through R & D projects assigned to faculties, students and research scholars.
- To initiate and promote MoUs with Organizations, Institutions, Cooperatives, NGOs, Business Establishments, Industries and Research and Development (R & D) Organizations for consultancy, collaborative research, sponsored projects, industry and institute interactions etc.
- To arrange brainstorming sessions through talks by eminent personalities from the fields of Social Sciences, Humanities, Commerce & Management, Science, Technologies and Industry, the Research & Development (R & D) Organizations and Institutions of repute for the better understanding of research methodology and practices currently followed.
- To support faculty for delivering talks at different events and conducting workshops, training programmes, seminars, conferences, symposia and faculty development programmes etc.
- To keep everyone informed about announcements by various funding agencies like the Indian Council of Social Science Research, the Indian Council of Historical Research, the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Atomic Energy, Defence Research and Development Organization, the Indian Space Research Organization, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, All India Council for Technical Education, University Grants Commission, National Assessment & Accreditation Council (ICHR, ICSSR, DST, DAE, DRDO, ISRO, CSIR, AICTE, UGC, NAAC) and University etc.
- To motivate students for presenting papers in National and International Conferences and Projects in competitions and exhibitions like AVISHKAR at university level. Also to encourage interdepartmental/collaborative work.
- To monitor progress of the research and development activities.
RECOMMENDATIONS AND IMPACT OF THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CELL OF KRISHNAGURU ADHYATMIK VISVAVIDYALAYA, NASATRA, BARPETA, ASSAM:
The following are the areas of focus of recommendations and impact of the Research and Development Cell of Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya, Nasatra, Barpeta, Assam:
- Publications in Research Journals.
- Preparation and submission of Research Proposals to different funding agencies.

THE POLICY OF THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CELL OF KRISHNAGURU ADHYATMIK VISVAVIDYALAYA, NASATRA, BARPETA, ASSAM:
The Policy of the Research and Development Cell of Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya, Nasatra, Barpeta, Assam are as the following:
- To create good infrastructural facilities and conducive environment to inculcate research culture. Policy framework for all such activities are as follows:
- Incentives are to be provided for publications.
- Facilities such as flexibility in timings, use of laboratories etc. are to be extended to the faculties as per requirement.
- Implementing a policy for distribution of testing and consultancy charges to motivate faculty for providing consultancy.
- Faculty with an aptitude for research is identified.
- An initiative is to be taken by the Central Library to help the researchers in understanding recent updates of their publications in terms of citation index, Plagiarism testing, etc.
- In-house Project development.
- The University is to encourage the formation of various student chapters of professional bodies within the university. The institute will bear the membership fees for the same.
A. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO SCHOLARS & STUDENTS FOR RESEARCH:
- Research Scholars and students will get reimbursement towards paying registration fees for presenting the paper in the conference. Also, students participating in various events such as technical quiz competition, technical fest, and technical poster presentation competitions at state level as well as at national level will be reimbursed by the institute.
- The university is to motivate the students for undertaking the interdisciplinary projects and provides required financial support.
- Final year students will be given reimbursement for performing tests on the samples in the outside laboratory if required for their project work. Students must seek prior approval from concerned project guide and HoD.
Financial Assistance to Scholars & Students for Research Process:
- Students are to be informed about the R & D initiatives by the respective Department R & D coordinator.
- Students willing to publish research paper/participate in any technical activities shall approach the Department R & D coordinator
- Students need to submit application signed by concerned HoD and their Department R & D coordinator to the institute R & D in-charge.
- On approval, the student registers for the conference.
- Students attend the conference.
- For reimbursement purpose, students must enclose receipt of registration fees, first page of paper and conference certificate along with application and submit it to the Department R & D coordinator. Department R & D coordinator approves the request.
- Students submits the above approved documents to the concerned officials for approval.
- The registrar is to finally approve the application for reimbursement.
- Students needs to submit bills of expenditure to the Head of Department for approval and then to the Accounts Department for reimbursement. Students submits the above approved documents to the accounts for reimbursement.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO FACULTY FOR RESEARCH:
- The University provides financial support by reimbursing registration fees only for presenting papers in reputed National/International Conferences held within India and for attending FDP/STTP/Workshop/Seminar in other organizations in India.
- Faculty would also look for an alternate source of funding for participation in Conference viz., of ICSSR, (The Indian Council of Social Science Research), ICHR (the All India Council of Historical Research), CSIR (The All India Council of Scientific Research - also known as the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research), AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education),/UGC etc.
- The faculties can avail ODL (Official Duty Leave) for attending the Conference/FDP/STTP/Workshop/Seminar etc.
- The faculty should fill the required form, get the approval and submit the same to the office before proceeding for the same.
- The total cost of organizing any technical event for student and faculty will be borne by the institute.
Financial Assistance to Faculties for Research (Conference /FDP/STTP/Workshop/Seminar) Process:
The process of financial assistance covers the undermentioned:
- All requests for grant have to be made prior to the conference. Faculty members will submit the application for grant when they receive the letter of acceptance from the conference committee.
- The recommendation of Head of the Department, R & D Coordinator & Subject Expert is required for availing the conference sponsorship.
- On approval, the faculty registers for the conference and attends the Conference/FDP/STTP/Workshop etc.
- For reimbursement purpose, faculty must enclose receipt of registration fees, first page of paper and conference/workshop certificate along with proof of application and submit it to department R & D coordinator.
- Faculty is to submit the above approved documents to the Registrar/Academic Registrar for approval within 15 days of attending the conference.
- The Registrar/Academic Registrar finally approves the application for reimbursement.
- Faculty submits the above approved documents to the accounts and gets reimbursement amount.
