The National Service Scheme (NSS), under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India was launched in Gandhiji’s Birth centenary in the year 1969. In most of the Higher Educational institutions of the country National Service Scheme (NSS) Units were formed   under the leadership of Faculties as Programme Coordinators and Officers involving the students as the volunteers with primary focus on the development of holistic personalities of students through community services. Since the formation of the Unit in Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya Nasatra, Barpeta, Assam, various programmes and camps have organised.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya Nasatra, Barpeta, Assam has been organising Programmes and Camps inside the Campus and in the locality and the volunteers of the unit have become successful in acquiring first-hand experiences of community services. They have learnt lessons of community living with the services. The spirit of services to the needy in the moment of crisis has well been developed in the minds of the volunteers of the Unit through the programmes and Camps inside and outside the campus.

The Main Goal of the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya Nasatra, Barpeta, Assamis is to inspire students of various institutions and Departments to participate in Community Services and Nation-building activities by organising a varied range of events and programmes. All such events and programmes help to benefit the local community as well as the state and the nation as well.

The NSS volunteers have been providing altruistic services to the community and they have become successful in acquiring first-hand experiences of the benefit of Services to the people in the moment of need and crises and thereby they have been getting lessons for the services to the society and the nation.

This motto effectively captures the concept of the National Service Scheme (NSS), emphasising on the idea that volunteer members of the NSS must work for the betterment of the society by understanding that the personal well-being ultimately depends on the well-being of the group as a whole.
